Greek for ‘Giving’, the Dinontas (Δίνοντας) Society is a special community of donors to the DeKalb County Community Foundation who completed financial contributions as a provision of their will, charitable trust, estate, and/or memorial gift designation – Leaving a Legacy of Love and Support.
Dinontas Society membership consists of:
DONOR-DIRECTED GIFTS
Donor directed gifts are planned by people who as part of their planned giving/estate:
- Provided a financial contribution to start a new charitable Fund at the Community Foundation
- Provided a financial contribution to an existing Fund at the Community Foundation
- Provided an unrestricted financial contribution to the Community Foundation
LOVED-ONE DIRECTED GIFTS
Loved-one directed gifts are planned by people whose loved ones, in response to their passing:
- Directed memorial gifts to the Community Foundation as part of an obituary
- Provided a financial contribution to the Community Foundation in memory of the loved one who passed. Such a contribution must come from the cumulative memorial gifts and/or from the assets of the person who passed.

Is there a minimum donation amount?
No – any amount qualifies a person to be named in the Dinontas Society.
Do non-cash gifts count?
Yes – donations of property or other real assets qualify a person to be named in the Dinontas Society.
Who can make donations?
Can someone make a donation in memory/honor of someone and have that person listed in the society?
- No – giving must be consistent with the membership criteria above.
