Charles “Charlie” Orr (1928–2011) and Carol A. Orr (1930–2023) shared a lifelong commitment to family, faith, and community in DeKalb County. Charlie was a Korean War veteran who worked for DeKalb Ag and later Northern Illinois University, while Carol dedicated many years to Northern Illinois Corporation and General Electric in DeKalb. Together, they enjoyed traveling, supporting local agriculture and education programs, and spending time with family and friends. 

Following their passing, the Orr estate established the Charles and Carol Orr Memorial Scholarship Fund at the DeKalb County Community Foundation. The scholarship supports students from DeKalb High School and Indian Creek High School pursuing careers in healthcare, agriculture, or the trades, reflecting the Orrs’ lifelong values of education, hard work, and community impact.
