Elizabeth B. Reed was born in DeKalb in 1902. She was raised in DeKalb and taught in area schools. She lived in Fairbault, Minnesota, for many years and after her husband’s death in 1987, she returned to DeKalb and lived in Oak Crest-DeKalb Area Retirement Center where she donated funds to help build a garden and pond for residents to enjoy. She lived in Oak Crest until her death in 1997. 

The Elizabeth B. Reed Fund was established in 1999 with funds from Elizabeth’s estate. The fund is used to help support the health center at Oak Crest. The legacy of Elizabeth lives on through her ongoing support to the retirement center.
