Elma “Phyllis” McCormick (1919–2021) lived a life centered on family, learning, and preserving history. A lifelong DeKalb County resident, she enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, and researching genealogy, eventually compiling extensive family history records that connected generations of relatives across the United States and Europe. She was known for her curiosity, dedication, and deep appreciation for family connections and shared stories. 

Through her trust, the Lt. Col. John R. and Phyllis McCormick Fund was established at the DeKalb County Community Foundation. Her legacy continues to support the Foundation’s mission and strengthen opportunities for future generations throughout DeKalb County.
