Harland and Mable Orr valued family, hard work, and education. Harland was born in Earlville, Illinois, and served in France during World War I before returning home to build a life with his wife, Mable, and their three children, David, Charles, and Mary. Together, they represented a generation devoted to service, perseverance, and creating opportunities for future generations.

Established in 2007, the Harland L. and Mable Orr Memorial Scholarship Fund at the DeKalb County Community Foundation honors their memory and legacy. The scholarship supports graduating DeKalb High School students pursuing higher education, continuing the Orr family’s lasting investment in students and the future of the community.
