Richard and Carol Ubl

Richard “Dick” Ubl (1932–2025) and Carol Helen Chaberski Ubl (1936–2023) shared a life defined by service, leadership, and a deep love for DeKalb County. Dick devoted his professional life to strengthening communities and was honored to serve as the first Executive Director of the DeKalb County Community Foundation. His vision, integrity, and steady leadership helped shape the Foundation in its earliest days, laying the groundwork for the growth and impact it continues to have today. He believed deeply in local philanthropy and in the power of neighbors helping neighbors.

Carol was his devoted partner in life and in service. With warmth, strength, and quiet generosity, she supported both her family and the broader community. Together, they valued education, civic engagement, and giving back to the place they called home. They built a life centered on faith, family, and a shared commitment to making their community stronger.

Through their generosity, support was directed to the Richard and Carol Ubl Fund at the DeKalb County Community Foundation. The Fund reflects their shared belief in thoughtful giving and local impact.

Today, their legacy is woven into the very fabric of the Community Foundation. From its earliest leadership to the lasting Fund that bears their name, Dick and Carol’s commitment to service continues to inspire and strengthen DeKalb County.
