Robert R. Bowman
Robert R. Bowman was born on August 23, 1942, in DeKalb. He graduated in 1960 from Waterman High School and went on to Eastern Illinois University and then Northern Illinois University, where he earned a master’s in community mental health.
In 1963, he married Pamela Sue Dixon, his high school sweetheart, and the Bowmans spent the next 53 years learning, living, and contributing to the community they love. Bob and Pam had two children and three grandchildren. Bob had many hobbies, including skiing, boating, birdwatching, traveling with family and friends, and being a wine connoisseur. Bob was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in DeKalb. He enjoyed reminiscing with former classmates and spending time with his grandchildren.
On November 28, 2016, a few short weeks after creating the Bob and Pam Bowman Fund, Bob’s courageous four-year battle with cancer ended. His memory will live on forever in the number of lives he influenced. The Bob and Pam Bowman Fund continues to leave a legacy of love and support for the community.
