Victor F. Barresi

Victor F. Barresi was born on June 27, 1936, in Pekin, IL. He was extremely active in DeKalb County as a dental professional and volunteer for numerous nonprofit organizations.


Victor practiced oral surgery for over 50 years in the State of Illinois. He lived in DeKalb County for 45 years and selflessly gave of his time, talent, and resources. Victor earned a bachelor's degree in science from the University of New Mexico in 1958 and a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Loyola Dental School in 1962. He completed his post-graduate work in oral surgery at Loyola and a residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. He also completed a four-year fellowship in anesthesia.


Victor served as a captain in the U.S. Army in Tokyo, Japan, from 1966 to 1969. Upon returning to the United States, he joined a dental practice in Homewood, IL. Then, in 1971, Victor established a practice in DeKalb,  serving the community until 2001. After a brief retirement, he continued to practice part-time in Rockford until 2008, when he opened his own Rockford-based practice. He continued to practice there until his health issues progressed.


Dr. Barresi previously served as chief of staff at Kishwaukee Community Hospital and served as board president of the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra. He served on the board of the Sycamore Education Foundation, was a CASA Advocate, and was an active participant in many other community organizations.


Victor loved spending time with family and friends, music, traveling, cooking, hunting, golf, and continually learning. Victor F. Barresi, 77, of Sycamore, IL, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2014. A Fund was created in his memory. The Victor F. Barresi Memorial Fund keeps his passion for life and spirit of giving alive and well in the community that he loved and served.
