Nancy Wirsing was born on January 7, 1939, in Rochelle, IL. She graduated from Sycamore High School and worked for Northern Illinois University as a secretary for 12 years. Nancy married David A. Wirsing on March 5, 1960, and they had four children. She was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church and Illinois Pork Producer's Women's Association. Nancy enjoyed going to the YMCA for their "Mermaids" water exercise class for many years. 

In 2004, as a memorial following David's untimely death, Nancy and her children established the David A. Wirsing Community Endowment Fund at the DeKalb County Community Foundation. The family made grant recommendations from this Donor Advised Fund on an annual basis. 

Nancy Wirsing passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Her children requested that the name of the Fund be changed to include their mother's name. The David & Nancy Wirsing Community Fund is a lasting tribute to their memory. Together, David and Nancy continue to leave a legacy of love and support for their community.
